How to merge PDF files into one document

Combine several PDFs into a single file in the order you choose. Merge on phone or computer, add scans and images, and keep sensitive files private.

Key takeaways

  • Merge PDF combines any number of PDFs into one file in the order you set.
  • Drag files to reorder them; open Organize PDF to rearrange individual pages.
  • Photos must be converted to PDF first (JPG to PDF or Scan to PDF).
  • Merging happens in your browser, so confidential files stay on your device.

Applications, reports and invoices often arrive in pieces: a cover letter here, three statements there, a signed page from a scanner. Recipients want one file. Merging PDFs takes less than a minute.

Pages keep their original quality; nothing is re-compressed.

Fine-tune the page order

Merge orders whole files. To move individual pages — for example, putting page 3 of the second file at the front — use Organize PDF. You can add several PDFs there and arrange every page visually, rotate pages and delete the ones you don't need. More in reorder PDF pages.

Adding photos or scans

Merge PDF works with PDF files. For images:

  • Paper documents: scan them with Scan to PDF for clean, cropped pages.
  • Existing images: convert them with JPG to PDF, then merge.

Merge on your phone

Open osd-scan.com/merge-pdf in your mobile browser, or use the Osd-Scan app: choose the PDFs from your files, reorder and save. In the app, you can also share a PDF from WhatsApp or email straight into Osd-Scan.

Too big after merging?

Combining many scans can create a large file. Run Compress PDF afterwards — the Recommended level shrinks scanned pages substantially while keeping text sharp. See reduce PDF size for email.

Common merge jobs

  • Job applications: CV + cover letter + certificates
  • Accounting: a month of invoices in one file
  • Legal: contract + annexes + signed page
  • School: assignment pages scanned separately

Why merge locally

Merging is often done with exactly the documents you shouldn't upload: bank statements, IDs, contracts. Osd-Scan merges inside your browser, so the files never touch a server.
