Key takeaways
- Keep scanning: the camera waits for each new page and adds it to the same document.
- Drag pages to reorder them before saving.
- Already have separate PDFs or photos? Merge them into one file afterwards.
- One PDF per document is easier to send, print and archive than a pile of images.
A contract, a tax return or a school report is one document — so it should be one PDF, not twelve separate photos. Here's how to scan many pages into a single file, and how to combine scans you already have.
Scan all pages in one go
- Open Scan to PDF and tap Scan with camera.
- Place page 1 on a dark surface. When the blue outline locks, it's captured automatically.
- Remove the page and put down page 2. The camera notices the new page and captures it.
- Continue until the last page, then tap Done.
- All pages appear in the workspace in scanning order. Save once to get one PDF.
The camera won't capture the same page twice: after each photo it waits until the page is replaced or moved, then keeps scanning.
Reorder, rotate and delete pages
Before saving:
- Drag a page card to move it.
- Tap the rotate icon for a sideways page.
- Tap the trash icon to remove a blurry or duplicate page.
- Tick several pages to change their filter or rotation together.
Combine scans you already have
Maybe you scanned pages at different times, or someone sent you separate files.
- Separate PDFs? Use Merge PDF and drag them into the right order.
- Separate photos? Use Scan to PDF › Import photos or PDF to clean them up, or JPG to PDF to place them as they are.
Double-sided documents
Scan the front of a sheet, flip it, scan the back, then move to the next sheet. The order stays correct automatically. If you scanned all fronts and then all backs, use Organize PDF to interleave them.
Keep the file a sensible size
A 30-page color scan can reach several megabytes. If you need to email it or upload it to a portal:
- Choose Grayscale or Black & white for text-only documents.
- Pick Standard quality when saving.
- Or run Compress PDF afterwards.

Name it so you can find it
Use a pattern like 2026-10-03 Lease agreement signed.pdf. Dates at the start sort files chronologically in any folder.
One document, one clean PDF — that's what recipients expect, and it takes only a few minutes with your phone.
Frequently asked questions
How many pages can I scan into one PDF?
There's no fixed limit. Very large documents depend on your phone's memory; for hundreds of pages, scan in parts and merge.
Can I add pages to a PDF I already saved?
Yes. Open Merge PDF, add the existing PDF and the new scan, and save them as one file.
How do I fix pages in the wrong order?
Drag the page cards in the scan workspace before saving, or use Organize PDF afterwards.
Can I scan both sides of each sheet?
Yes. Scan the front, flip the sheet, scan the back. The pages stay in the order you scanned them.
